Often people want to know if they can speed up the internet while surfing the internet. If your PC doesn’t seem to be as fast as it was online, it makes sense to want to look into this. Of course, we are talking about a computer with a broadband connection. So what happens when a broadband connection starts to work like a dial-up? This article answers this question.
There are some sort of software programs, and there are also free programs that test the speed of broadband connections. The problems with these programs are: Broadband speed testers can give inaccurate results if the computer’s internal components or operating system are not functioning well. I was also burned many times by a free program that arrived at my computer with spyware connected. So I won’t use it anymore.
Call the provider
If you think your internet service is slower than before, contact your cable company that offers broadband services. Very quickly, they can tell you exactly what your speed is, and even what it was before. By phone, they will let you know if your service is up to date at the speed required by the contract that they provide. If there is a problem, it will be fixed many times before you hang up. I know many people are hesitant to deal with cable providers over the phone, but in my view it’s easier than dealing with spyware.
If the cabling works, the problem is clearly somewhere inside the computer. I bet dollars on donuts. The problem is in the area of the Windows registry. I also bet more dollars for less donuts, cleaning the registry with a registry cleaner will solve the problem. In fact, I’ve seen this apply many times.
But everything else is ok
If you have a problem with Windows, your computer can start up quickly, shut down if necessary, and perform full functionality such as Word and Paint, but you may not be able to browse the web at half the speed it used to be. The reason this can happen is that registry corruption is targeting software in the Winsock area of the operating system. Winsock is part of an operating system that directs the flow of information to and from broadband connections.
In extreme cases, when the problem became so severe that the computer couldn’t establish an online connection, Winsock even had to be rebuilt. This is strange, and if your computer is only slow online and the connection is established, don’t worry. Just run Registry Cleaner and it will probably get everything back to normal in a few minutes.
