B.Ed Full Form – Bachelor of Education

Full Form of B.Ed is Bachelor of Education. It is a professional course that prepare students for a career in teaching. The duration of the course is generally two years.

B.Ed course offers comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge about various aspects of education. The course curriculum includes subjects like child development, educational psychology, teaching methods, etc. Bachelors in Education degree holder can find employment opportunities in schools, colleges, and other educational institutes.

What students Learn during B.Ed course?

B.Ed is one of the most important professional courses for those who wish to pursue a career in teaching. It is a two-year course that helps prepare students for a successful teaching career.

During the B.Ed course, students learn various subjects such as educational psychology, pedagogy, and classroom management. How many years is the B.Ed course duration?

The B.Ed course duration is 2 years. However, in 2018, the Ministry of Human Resource Development decided to convert the course into a 4-year integrated course. Under the integrated program of 4 years, you have the option that you can also do B.Ed course with BA, BSE or B.Com. You will get 2 degrees together after completing 4 years. The 2-year B.Ed course has not been discontinued so that the students who have done their graduation can also do their B.Ed.

Eligibility for B.Ed course-

The minimum eligibility for B.Ed is 50% marks in graduation. SC, ST and physically handicapped candidates are given a five percent concession. For the 4 year integrated B.Ed course, the minimum percentage in 12th must be 50.

  • B.Ed Course Admission Procedure

There are two ways to get admission in a B. Ed course- direct admission and through an entrance exam.

In most private colleges, you will be able to get direct admission on the basis of your marks. However, for admission in a government college, you will have to write an entrance exam.

This entrance exam is conducted by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). To be eligible to write this exam, you must have completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with at least 50% marks.

The entrance exam consists of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. Paper I tests your knowledge of general English, current affairs and teaching aptitude.
